If your vehicle’s interior gets wet (leaving a window down/sunroof open, leak, etc.) and you dry it out within a few days there is a good chance you will avoid a mold infestation problem. The trick is drying the carpet padding. The padding gets no airflow in the carpet since it is covered by the carpet. Carpet padding can remain wet for months, if the proper process is not used to dry it. Basically, you have to blow forced hot air under the padding until the padding is less then 10% moisture (we use moisture meters to ensure proper drying).

Depending on how much water entered the vehicle, and how thick and dense the carper padding is, it can take hours to several days to dry it properly..
